Front derailleurs aren't that expensive to replace. Besides, any bike is a nice bike. They become great bikes when they are free. Enjoy the ride......

Very good point, free is awesome! I would not mind seeing a few more close up pictures of it. The brake caught my attention as I have a couple of these type stashed away. What speed is it? Also if you can get a picture of the rear derailler with the name on it I'll try to figure out what kind of Front Deariller you may need.

After looking at your pictures closely, with more time to myself as well, your bike doesn't have a regular freewheel/cassette but rather a single cog? In this case if you are for a single speed "fixie" type deal then it is definitely a different situation.
