Finish on brand new Alivio crankset
#1
So Santa brought new new Shimano Alivio Crankset for Christmas only ride on them twice for less than 8km and the finish on both sides has wided off! i think from my leg or foot when pedaling. Is this normal or the Crankset defective?

(having problem adding Pics for some reason?)

Yes, that is from your foot rubbing on the arm and not a defect. Purely cosmetic and will not hurt a thing. You should see a couple of mine. VERY shiney. Smile
If you did that in 8km, you might want to adjust your foot placement or you'll need new shoes soon!

reminds me of a trick we used to pull on each other at work. polish a small area on someone else's front wheel when they're not looking, then they gotta do the rest of it or it looks funny.
Get on your bad pedalscooter and ride!

I sure hope so, I had to change my entire crankset from an FSA with polished aluminum finish to a Shimano Tiagra with an anodized aluminum finish on my road bike. I use clipless pedals so the rubbing of the foot against them shouldn't be an issue.
