My GT bikes!

First off is a 2001 GT ZR 5.0
I have just finished updating this bike with:
Rival Shifters
Rival Brakes
Rival Rear derailleur
Apex front derailleur
Apex Compact crank and bb
Axis carbon fork
Easton double grooved handlebars
Carbon seat post
SRAM 1050 chain
SRAM pg1070 11/26 cassette
FSA headset

The only thing left to do is find some new wheels!

Next is my 2001 GT Avalanche 1.0

I've always quite liked the triple triangle frame on GTs, I'm not sure whether has any real effect on the ride, but it does look very distinctive.

It's not a new idea though, check out the "Hellenic" stays on this Hetchins, first designed by Fred Hellens in 1923: http://www.hetchins.org/403.htm

There is one slight draw back though as a friend and I discovered a while back; he also has an Avalanche. We were going to load the bikes onto my car boot (trunk) rack and drive a short distance to ride some trails about 30 miles away. My conventional frame was fine, but the short top tube on the GT wouldn't fit the rack - scuppered before we even got started.

I had that problem also about loading up on a bike rack, so I got creative and built this....

I like your truck rack. I've got something similar. Nothing looks cooler that your truck loaded up with bikes on it.

nice bikes m8 .... the avalanche brings back memories as i has one for a training bike in the early 90's .... loved the rigid frame and boy it took some abuse off road and never once let me down

what do u think of the kiddy trailer ? ... just looking to buy one myself for my 2yr old princess

I have the same bike (GT ZR 5.0) and I recently decided to paint the frame. I had a local shop remove my bottom bracket. It needed replaced so I had them throw it out for me. I have a dilemma however b/c I cannot find information on spindle length. If you could let me know what measurement your bike uses, or any help on this matter it would be great!

just spec the model # of your crank, it determines your spindle length.

lets post a closeup pic of your crank, front and back. you may have external bearing setup and your spindle is already on your crank. or look for a model # on the back of the crank arm. you send the original poster a PM and see if he will respond that way too
