Hatch Chiles Rule!
#1
Thumbs Up
Made a batch of my custom hot & spicy homemade chicken burrito mix the other day, and I've been macking big ol' burrito plates ever since, lol. I'm a fool for homemade chicken burritos, but I rationalize this weakness by telling folks it's cheaper than crack or heroin, lol. Check out the primo burrito mix! Big Grin

I routinely use the tall pot for cooking the mix (better for stirring), while the shorter pot with the glass lid is for temporary fridge storage! My kitchen still needs to be painted, but it's clean enough for my purposes! Functional too, with the new range, toaster oven, microwave (behind camera), etc. Shy

I was hungry last night, so I made a "double plate!" TWO big ol' chicken burritos (cheese inside tortilla), topped with avocado, sour cream & hot sauce, lol. Check this plate, those burritos were AWESOME with hot Hatch Chiles in the mix! Not stupid hot, but hot enough for you to break a slight sweat while eating, lol. Rolleyes

And another look at that bad boy burrito plate, lol... made a bit of a mess on the tray, but I had the foresight to throw down a sheet of wax paper and a paper towel, so no worries, the cleanup was minor. Drank a cold root beer with my meal, that's my favorite drink when I eat burgers or burritos! CHEERS!!! Smile

As an aside, here are pics of my weed plants... the ones which survived the deer & grasshoppers, that is, lol. I'm only growing weed to make salve for my aches & pains, I'm no pothead, but I'll probably sample some bud in my glass bong, which is usually reserved for guests! These particular seeds were given to me by my former neighbor in Alamo, his friends operate a cannabis nursery up near Cloudcroft, go figure. Hey, free seeds, why NOT germinate 'em and put 'em in the ground? Gotta amend the soil first, that's mandatory in New Mexico! Cool

Another shot of a single burrito... these photos are like "foodie porn!" Wink

Found three large zucchini(s?) in my yard, all at least a foot long, so I sliced one into discs and baked the lot in my toaster oven with butter and a little water... flipped the disc stacks about 40 minutes in and eventually added Baby Swiss cheese, salt and black pepper. Pretty darned tasty! Big Grin

Here's a closeup of a bud on one of my pot plants, lol... still have a couple months to go before harvest, I'm hoping the pesky deer don't mack the pot plants! Sad

If I find Bambi on my leather couch in the TV Room, drinking an alcoholic beverage and hogging the TV remote, I'll know I'm too late, the buds have already been eaten! Confused

Looks like little OG (Orange Guy) burned a bit of that weed... now he's crashed, lol. Wink

Another crash photo... Sleepy

And an aerial bridge confrontation between Gandalf the Wizard (OG) and the Balrog (Black Diamond)... "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!" Big Grin

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I'm putting up more walkways & aerial bridges in my home, gotta style out the cats! CHEERS!!! Smile

P.S. All of those walkways & bridges will be painted when I paint the interior of the home, a task slated for fall (after the monsoon). Cool

"THIS BUD'S FOR YOU!!!" Cool

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Plants are making progress, I'm just hoping the pesky deer don't mack the plants one night! Undecided

If those deer mack the plants, they'll probably be high as kites, lol... Angel

Harvested those buds before Bambi macked 'em, wound up with 2-3 ounces in my wooden salad bowl, lol. Cool

Saved the stripped leaf material for brownies, those "edibles" will be good for pain management in my injured knee. Might try my hand at making some CBD/THC salve for aches & pains, I'm not really into Big Pharma poison! Undecided

Gonna try my hand at making CBD/THC salve for aches & pains... I found some good "virgin coconut oil" to use in the mix, but I'm having a hard time finding beeswax! Are all candles made of beeswax? Maybe I can use part of an old candle, lol... got plenty of those somewhere in the unopened moving boxes. I'd like to use fresh beeswax, in block form or pellets! Gonna stop at a co-op to see whether they have local beeswax for sale... I know local farmers have hives for making honey! Cool

I'd like to know if the CBD/THC salve would also add watts my power output hahaha

Never had a hatch pepper that I know of. I grew my garden last year and I planted what was advertised as 'the carnival mix' of sweet peppers in all their colors; but what grew were a variety of small very hot peppers, some pointing up and others down. I still have some left as dried fruit for a pick-me-up.

The batch of salve turned out awesome, it works wonders on the injured knee! My knee already feels better after multiple applications of the salve. I saved heller money too, making the salve... a plastic tub of salve the size of a hockey puck goes for $50 down at the dispensary, and I made an equal amount for $10, lol. I actually made 3X the amount of salve with the web recipe, and that cost $30, but break it back into thirds, and it's only $10. Did I ever tell y'all that I'm a CHEAP B@STARD? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Angel

I also made some pot brownies, using the leftover leaf material and the strained chopped bud from the salve-making process. Why throw it away, when the bud was in food-grade coconut oil? Gotta warn ya, though: eat too many of the brownies and you'll be high as a kite, lol. I'm no pothead, it's all about pain relief here in Silver City, but I'm glad things turned out so well and I saved heller money! It ain't easy, livin' on Social Security, lol. I'll take whatever breaks I can get! Biggest concern was that pesky Bambi would mack the buds before the harvest! Confused

Anyway, my knee feels better, so maybe now I can climb back aboard the home rehab horse and get stuff done on my trailer! After much consideration, I sold my motorbike, so now I can afford all the materials I need to finish the home rehab project! WTF, something had to be sacrificed, as I couldn't buy materials AND pay my bills on Social Security, lol. Meh, no worries, I can also finish the sailboat project now, then go sailing instead of trail riding, yeah? No hard falls to worry about while sailing! Maybe some "cider elbow" while hoisting ice-cold beverages! Cool
