Hello,
I need to replace my speed shift, the old one got broke, but my bike is quite old, this type of shifter is't available anymore, but can't i simply order a speed shifter with the same gear posisions that also has a cable to the derailleur ?
I'm dutch, I hope my english is understandable,
Thanks in advance,

You can replace with any 8 speed shifter.

Altus or Acera are the common Shimano sets for 8 speed.

9 Speed uses a different pull ratio—so don't think it's reverse compatible. It must be 8 speed.

Actually no. That one is for an internally geared hub setup.

The shifter you originally have isn't an internally geared one, so it's safe to say that's not the setup you're running.

The one you'll need is SIS Index. And doesn't have to be Shimano.

Make sure you select the [Pair] option there. Otherwise, you will order only the left shifter (which isn't even the one you need).

So this one than: https://www.bikester.nl/shimano-sl-m315-shift-lever-rapidfire-plus-8-speed-right-black-1105712.html?

I would prefer a shifter that does't have a lever, but that is not possible? I think it last longer in bussy bicycle storages at railway stations

Yes. That one should work.

Although it shows the left lever, the listing says it's the right one, so you should be good to go.
