Brake lever spring

Hello,

I was trying to put in a new brake wire on a mountain bike Next Px 4.0 24".

Unfortunately I disassembled the brake lever (though it was not required to obviously).

Anyways now that I try to reassemble it, the brake lever spring mechanism is not working. The brake lever is of 'Sun run' brand (Chinese company).

Since I dont have a lot of time on my hand, I am thinking about getting a new brake lever. How do I know if it would fit on the bike's metal handle ?

I am looking to buy a cheap brake lever ? Any suggestions ?

Measure the handlebar diameter. Most brake levers should work, sometimes you need shims, but they should come with the levers. For one of my bikes my LBS had a pair of used Avid break levers lying around that I could have for... dunno... a fiver or so. Just make sure that you get a lever for the style of brkaes you have, V-brakes (linear pull) and Cantilever breaks need different levers!

It doesnt mention for what type of brake system it is for (V or cantilever). Any ideas?

That one will not work; it is "short pull". V-brakes (and most mechanical disc brakes) need "long pull" aka linear.

Can V-brakes be visually differentiated from Cantilever ? I am asking this as there is an old mountain bike lying around whose bike lever I could salvage and install on the Next PX 4.0.

How would i know if this product would fit on a 24mm diameter bike metal bar ?

24mm OD is standard for most bars, except drop bars, it will fit. At worst, you'll need a shim.

Thanks a lot to all of you guys for helping out. I was able to succesfully install a new brake lever on the bike. Brake system works great so far !
