The four rotten cold months are over with, for us in the snow belt. Starting here in March we should begin having days that are warm enough to ride.

We have a "false spring" here, weather is absolutely gorgeous and it's supposed to stay that way for a week... temps in the 70s and 80s. In the high desert, temps in the 80s are fine due to the aridity, aye? The sunshine feels good, lol. I may have to haul the kayak to Lake Roberts in days ahead, this would be great paddling weather! I may haul the Topper sailboat out from under the tarp too, I need to measure the running rigging and order the replacement lines... I also need to put the new sticker on the bow. That 11' sailboat is for camping trips to Elephant Butte Lake and Caballo Lake, the 2 largest lakes in New Mexico, about 2 hours from my home. I bought the boat for $100 off C/L, and I already bought a new sail for it, just gotta order the new running rigging. The kayak will be used on local lakes, which are much smaller... but Lake Roberts and Bill Evans Lake each have a small island to explore, they are great places to relax and have a cold beverage, lol. Here's a link to one island voyage:

Island Voyage, Lake Roberts, NM

Might as well throw in this primo thread on the Gila Cliff Dwellings, lol...

Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, NM

BTW, you can see some of the Gila Wilderness in that second thread, the 'Tour of the Gila' will undoubtedly cross some of those ranges, lol.
