Twenty-seven solo transcontinental crossings. My last crossing was at the age of 66 with 185 pounds of bike and gear on an artificial hip. Over a 72 year span I have ridden a half-million miles. I am not done. I am Raven Stands Alone, the Emperor of the Universe. (Google it)

What part of Illinois?

Followed the Mississippi from New Orleans to Rock Island back in 1988. Jacksonville to NO to Rock Island and back. Nice summer ride.

I don't remember if I went through Peoria. Sounds familiar but, it's an Illinois town we have all heard of...

Speaking of... put new chainring on this morning, 60T. Couldn't get the bright red with silver cut-outs in a 62T configuration.

I see, Jax. Lived there in the 80s-90s. Can you get over the Acosta Bridge? I cycled every bridge there to get some hill work. Broward (Dames Point) bridge was a blast when you could ride it. You could descend at over 50 mph.
