Rookie looking for a bike
#1
I want to buy an outdoor bike for exercise. Haven't ridden one in years. I am age 73, in good health. I will be cycling on city streets, walking paths and packed dirt roads. I need a step through/low entry bike. I've been looking at the following types: comfort, cruiser, hybrid. $500 to $1000. Could you please offer some advice on type of bike, brands and models? I appreciate any advice you could offer.

Hi Beginner,

Welcome to the BikeRide forums.

If I was you, I would see if there's a community bike cooperative near you. You should be able to get guidance and a decent used bike that easily fits in your price range (or less).

It's a good idea to start with something cheaper, until you learn the ropes and figure out your likes/dislikes. Armed with that experience and knowledge, you can then invest in a more expensive bike that better meets your needs.
