Riding in India
#1
Hello,

I successfully flew to India with my fat bike, Framed Minnesota. I will post another thread regarding how I packed and what airlines I used but simply put I used a cardboard box to ship my bike from the US to the UK and then to India.

I put my bike together in Bengaluru, India, and test rode a bit before starting on a 450-mile, week-long ride. It was better than I expected and can't wait to get out to see more of India/Nepal and other parts.

The blog has some of my observations about my bikepacking experiences in India

Safe riding,
Girish

I would have thought bikes are less expensive in India. Are they?

When I travel to a place where bikes are less expensive, I buy a bike there.

It would have been a good chance for you to buy a new bike.

Hello ichitan,

Bikes and parts are definitely less expensive here but they also have Trek and other brands that cost as much or more than US prices.

I did not need a new bike. I am happy with my fat bike and it flew for free as my checked-in luggage. So, why buy a new bike..:-) I am a minimalist, so will use MisterGordo until I can't use it..

I did buy a fat tire tube here and that cost around 6.03 USD. I paid something like 20 USD last time I bought one there. A cousin needed a 27.5 X 2.125-inch tire (tyre). That cost something like 4.2 USD..:-)
