Are e-MTBs better than traditional MTBs?

E-bikes have been on the up and up lately and I see more of these suckers every time I'm on a ride. I got to ride one last week and I can't get over how fun it was. I mean trail climbs look easy, removing that 'skill barrier' and making more demanding trails open to beginners. They are still heavy to pedal without that battery, but they have some explosive power.

I just wanted to understand, do you guys think they will be popular enough to outshine classic mountain bikes??

They certainly allow ease for a level of challenge in mtb riding that people can dread.

Most mtb people ride downhill style chains, and these don't help much except in one area:

Scary jumps—and especially dealing with wind—becomes much easier.

I don't think it's going to "outshine" per se, but it's good for people to have an option imo.
