Fixed Gear with Vertical dropouts
#1
Have any of you built a fixed gear on a frame with vertical dropouts? I have a frame that I have been stripping and It would make an ok looking fixed gear, the only problem is that it has vertical drop outs. I am going to get a 14, 15, 16, 17, & 18 so that I can test them all out at the same time and find that "Magic Gear" so where it'll fit. I also have half links ready to go if needed.

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with this before?

I've never done it myself. I think you're going to need some trial and error for sure. The half links are a great idea, I use a KHE half link chain on my BMX and it works awesome.

Sheldon posted some info here: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/singlespeed.html#vertical
(would be nice if the Eric House links still worked)

Not cheap, but here's a solution when you can't find a magic ratio with a good chain length:

Oh, I like that. It would be a dilemma because I did pay less for the frame than one of those bb's but you're right about it not being cheap.

These are the cheapest I've found.

Damn, I would love to get one of those. If worst comes to worst and my magic gear attemt fails, this may be my last resort.
