looking to upgrade from panther pro-x100 2008

the bike i currently have is just a ticking death sentence, the rear breaks dont work, front brakes barely work, chain keeps falling off, i pulled out its seat dangerously high because the bike is made for max 183cm person and im 190cm and im looking to upgrade the next summer, im looking into 2021 neuron 6, is that an overkill? im just looking for a bike that ill be able to use for the upcoming decade, this summer i found out that i really enjoy exploring forest trails and such and i want to have a decent bike that wont give up on me
