SRAM Apex 1 hydraulic vs mechanical lever
#1
Just wondering about the possibility of upgrading only the front brake of an Apex 1 mechanical grupo to hydraulic. I figure the front brake does way more and it would save a ton of $$.

What I'm wondering about is if the left hydraulic brake lever/hood would have a different shape compared to the mechanical brake right shifter. Anyone know exactly how different they are and if it would feel super odd to be using mixed shifters? More details, especially measurements would be much appreciated!

yea so SRAM road hydraulic brake hoods honestly look a little goofy. I might be exaggerating here but they seem to be almost a half-inch taller than mechanical.
if you are looking for that added stopping power, I would invest in one of the following
1. replace both levers and brakes
2. replace the brake calipers with nicer mechanical ones
3. get bigger rotors, provided that your frame can fit them.
"Steel is real."
- IDK, some guy.
