Nice panasonics i just found my husband a panasonic x1000 in perfect condition at a yardsale for 40.00. Its a sharp bike and don't have a scratch on it. He would rather ride that then my cannondale r400.

I'd love to get hold of a nice lightweight steel road bike, especially for that price, what a bargain.

The older man at the yardsale said it was just an old bike and i can have it as it for 40.00.
I jumped on it , i didn't know if i was making a good deal i just thought i was a nice bike and i liked the way it looked. I jumped on it and took a small ride and said " i will take it"

I'm not familiar with the Panasonic model line up, but if the frame is made from a good tubeset and fairly lightweight, I imagine it alone would be worth $40.00.

Does it have any indication as to the tubeset, any little badges with Tange, Columbus, Reynolds etc., or maybe something with Cro-mo on it?

Awesome Panasonic bikes. I looked for the team or the 4K and 5K models.

They are some of the best bikes made in the late 70-80. They made the great Schwinn Super Le Tour in the late 70's and their bikes were competitive with the top eyetalian bikes and the Paramount series. Do not tell anyone as I am still looking. :-)
Some great Japanese bikes in that period before they went Taiwanese.
Here is a link to info.
