What would be a fair price for this?
#1
Hi all, I've just seen for sale today this Granville Fuse SL 29 from 2012. The bike has a carbon frame and comes equipped with a 2x10 Shimano XT, ROCKSHOX 30 Gold RL Solo Air 29 fork and XT brakes. What would be a fair price to pay for it, taking into account its age. The owner says it needs new tires only, but obviously there is more to the story for sure. Looking forward to getting your advice on the price.

Welcome to Bike ride!
I'd love to help, but it's a little out of my league. A quick check on BicycleBlue book would give you a general idea; l do find their values a little on the low side, especially for a bike in excellent condition. Tires can be a major expense, easily getting up to $100 so take that into consideration.

Take care,
Jesper

have you heard of Granville brand before? i certainly haven't but a new bike like this cost almost MSR $3000 back in 2012 and it weighs 11kg or 24pounds -> now considering its age and mileage ... really hard to tell, you should not settle for a high price for sure and no more than $500. the fork is probably not be original one?

Hi JoJoJo,
I don't feel so bad now for not having heard of this brand before; especially with them being around for nearly 10 years. I can't imagine how to price an off-road carbon frame set; you just don't know what it's been put through. I freak out a little with the older lugged aluminum and carbon frames since they are prone to problems if ridden hard; especially with a heavier rider, and/or on rougher surfaces (a lot of little bumps/vibrations over thousands of miles can't be good for a bonded frame!). I'm waiting for someone to chime in that has had a little experience with this brand.

Edit: I did a quick name search and found it is a Belgium marque. Where is their product actually made (not assembled)?
Take care,
Jesper
