Star
With the end of Tour of Guangxi in China the UCI World Tour season has come to an end, so practically the pro road cycling season of 2019 is finito. Like in other sports and competitions, NBA or football in Europe (Premier league, Spanish league), the offseason transfers is a hot topic. Lets discuss them here for the 2019-2020 offseason. Matteo Trentin and Greg van Avermaet will be an exciting pair to watch out at CCC.

What was the most surprising move this transfer season?

Sure excited about Brandon McNulty and his pro contract Smile One of the most talented young American cyclists who can actually turn out to become a GC contender. Sure said that his role in the 1st pro year wont be a leading one.

This is a good one! Gorilla! But we have to consider that he's turning 38 next season and won only one race this year ... and it was 2.1 category stage in Gabon. Might be his farewell season.

There are more than handful of big names retiring at the end of 2019. Mark Renshaw who was the key buddy of Mark Cavendish and helped the brit to achieve 16 Tour de France stage wins in three seasons. Stijn Devolder (won the Flanders twice in a row), Simon Spilak, Matti Breschel, Lars Bak all retiring. Peter Stetina is moving to gravel racing.

... and Israel Cycling Academy has now signed two guns from the Katusha roster, Rick Zabel and Mads Wurtz. Erik Zabel's son has very poor record of 1 victory in the past our seasons, while Wurtz has also been a bit dry on wins. Both could use a fresh push in 2020.

Israel Cycling Academy is getting real serious, another one from Katusha! Alex Dowsett has joined their lineup, former one hour record holder and a strong individual time trialist + Dani Navarro with the veteran presence.

Well, Sagan just confirmed that he'll ride Giro, Tour de France and Olympic Games in Tokyo, all three Big Grin It's crazy cause the Tokyo road race starts a week after the end of Tour. Sagan will have saturated six month season.

Tokyo course is very climbing-heavy with almost three miles or 5000m elevation gain. Bumpy! It favors climbers that's for sure.

At first Sagan said that Tokyo is too difficult for him: https://www.velonews.com/2019/10/news/sagan-confirms-he-wont-try-mtb-olympic-repeat-regrets-missed-chance-at-worlds_501379
