Shimano SPD
#1
I use Shimano SPD pedals with Shimano cleats to match. My problem is with how tight they are, even after a year of use. I have them adjusted to the lightest pressure, but it is almost impossible to get any 'float' ( I have the cleats that are supposed to float). Also, unclipping is a violent act, fortunately I have not had to do an emergency unclip. I have even tried to shave a little off the walking rubber, cos the pressure between the rubber and the pedal platform seems to be the base of the float problem - didn't work. I have changed cleats three times, but it's always the same. Is this normal.

Hi,
It's just a fact of how it was designed. It will improve slightly with time.
