Broken Gripshift Housing
#1
I ran across a situation with a gripshifter that has a broken housing on the side of the small hex nut (see this video about :56 in to see what I'm talking about). It's cracked around the hex nut. Any ideas on how to fix it? Or would it take a replacement shifter to be able to do it?

Why is it that they make adult bikes that'll generally work for 5'9" or above, yet when you pedal these same bikes they only work for someone who is 5'4" or so?

You could try some two-part epoxy to glue it back together, but it might not hold for too long. I'd recommend replacing the shifter if the plastic is broken and affecting your shifting.

I'm having a similar problem. I was replacing the cables (per your excellent video) of a grip shift and the metal 'clip' (I'm pretty sure this is what makes the gripshift click) shot out while I was starting to replace the cable. Is there any way to get this metal piece back in the grip shift? I guess I'm going to have to remove the grips now, but I'm don't have the slightest idea where it might go. Thanks!

The video I linked to in the first post shows the internal metal clip at about 1:18 or so. Is this what you are talking about? It should just be able to be placed back in the same spot, I would think. YMMV of course.

Yeah, that is what I'm talking about. I noticed that as well, but it didn't seem to take. I'm wondering if there is a piece it connects to because it just slipped back out when I stuck it where I thought it might go. Maybe something else is broken.
