Rims, Where to get them.
#1
Hi guys, I haven't been here for a while. Hope you all are well! Been riding and fishing and crabbing.

Well my daughter and I have bought a new to us bike. It was a team bike for Champion Systems. Has all Dura ace 9000 components and a set of 4 month old Dura Ace c50 wheels. I plan on riding it before it gets cannibalized. I hope it is to small or I may have to add it to my stable instead of selling it off which will cost me more money! Will try to post pics when it gets here. Can't wait for it to get here, like a kid at Christmas! LOL

We bought it mainly for the components and wheels. My Daughter just last week killed her front Dura Ace c24 when she crashed her Ruby. She has claimed the c50's.Sad She currently has Dura Ace 10 spd on the ruby and she wants to put the 9000 on her bike. which leaves the 10 speed Dura Ace up for grabs. May put it on the Cervelo and put the sram Rival on the frame we just bought. I Kinda like the Sram setup though. Would love to replace the rival with red but that is way cost prohibitive. All just in the thinking stage at this point. I am thinking about rebuilding her c24's for my S5. Where can one purchase a rim to build a wheel? Have been having trouble finding one. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Also opinions on replacing the Rival would be welcome.

Thanks
Bill

I purchase mine at Niagara Cyclery - along with almost all my other new bike components.

A lot of these modern, high-end wheelsets are mainly sold as sets. It seems to be difficult to find replacement rims. Are you looking to rebuild the damaged front C24 with a new rim? You can google around some and you may be able to find something compatible, or check with a shop that handles higher end road bikes. Depending on the level of damage and what rim you use, you may need new spokes. And that all could quickly develop into spending more to rebuild the wheel than just to buy a new complete one.

Thanks for the reply's, They are pricey for sure! I have a good rear wheel but the front is in bad shape. has a good hub and spokes still look good. The rim is pretty cracked and bent. I am thinking if I can get a rim I will rebuild. I may just leave my S5 alone just not sure yet. The rival is just getting broken in at 2k miles. Just not sure if I want the Dura Ace or want to wait to get red someday. I kinda like the Sram. May get the LBS to let me take a couple rides on a dura ace bike and see how I like it.

After further investigation the new bike looks like a Reven Fury. Am excited to see this thing. Will need to get a new cluster but that's ok.
This is the bike.
