1960 Schwinn Panther III & 1963 Schwinn American
#1
Hello!
My husband and I bought our house ten years ago and these bikes were included in the deal. We are just getting to cleaning them up and repairing them. Garage sale money is financing the fixing up. The girls bike (Schwinn American Serial No. indicates 1963) is at the local bike shop, Kettering Bike Shop for overhaul of the bearings, etc.

On-going process of cleaning off the rust as best I can and putting a coat of wax on the chrome parts. These photos are all before pictures straight out of the garage. I ordered Kendas as tire replacement. Our goal is to ride them around the neighborhood and close bike trail. But the bug does nag me to "restore" them. However, how far do I go in keeping things intact? Lots of questions…

I welcome comments, criticisms and concerns.

Hi;

First, the responses you get on this forum will be somewhat limited, as none of us have much interest in classic Schwinns. You will probably get better answers here: http://www.schwinnbikeforum.com/

They look nice, but I have no idea of their value, or how they ride. Those are the two things you need to determine before finalizing your choices on what to do with them.
