Dumped Shimano Hyper Havoc
#1
I was taking the dog out for a walk this morning and noticed a Shimano Hyper Havoc dumped on my lawn. Checked it out and see why it was abandoned there- it's in need of (hopefully easy) repair. I've attached a few pics of what is the problem area (rear wheel grinding against the frame). It looks like there might've been a cut to the frame too? Can someone confirm this?

I'm not at all familiar with bikes but I work on cars and am an engineer- I'd consider myself DIY savvy. Can you guys tell me if this is worth repairing and if it is, what parts I will need to replace? By the way, the shaved bike handles is the least I'm worried about Smile

Thanks a lot in advance guys/gals! Sorry for not posting these images directly on this thread; I'm new to this forum.

Looks like you need something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Como-Mountain-Bumper-Absorber-1200LBs/dp/B00AO3SFKK/

From the pics it appears that the current assembly came apart and was severely damaged.

Value - Not worth fixing to me; but I do not like suspension equipped bikes.

Ah, okay. The shock absorber has been severely bent and the shocks now face the wrong way. I was wondering where they mount to.

It's supposed to look like this:

As far as being worthwhile, I think I will fix it up. It's been years since I've had a bike. A ~$15 modification isn't too shabby for a suspension equipped bike. Thanks for your help Nigel!

Since it would only cost 15 dollars I would fix it.
