Sram x-7 front derailleur new cable installation
#1
I watched the "how to replace a grip shift cable" video, but it doesn't make sense for my sram x-7 front derailleur--the casing won't come apart like in the video. Am I missing something obvious? There's a screw in the casing above where the cable exits the housing, but taking that out doesn't seem to affect anything.

You have problem putting the cable in the shifter or onto the derailleur?? It's not clear for me!

I can't put the cable in the shifter because I can't get the shifter housing open.

is your shifter a SRAM X-7 too??

If yes, take a look at this...

My shifter is a shimano slx. Thank you for the link, Bob. It helped me figure out how to get the cable out of the port--I'd already discovered the port, but didn't know the procedure for digging out the cable-end. Basically, this shifter housing doesn't need to be taken apart to change the cable. There is a quick-change port that can be opened, the cable-end can be gotten out with a small screwdriver, the cable can be pulled out and a new one simply inserted back through. Thank you for the help!

Be sure to put install the cable in your derailleur while putting some tension on it before rotating your shifter... That way, you will be sure that the cable end is still in the right position inside of the shifter, and it will not damage the inside parts of it
