Welding steel frame
#1
I was cutting a piece off my top tube and cut into the frame.... I was going to run a small bead(TIG) to sure up the spot, it is three inches forward from the seat post.
what are the thoughts on this.

assuming you are an experienced welder able to use a tig it should be fine

You should have no problems. I had a Schwinn Wasp that the welded on kick stand broke off of. It created two wholes in the frame that were almost the diameter of the frame. I had a guy close up the wholes and used it for years. He just used a common welding rod that he was welding with at the time I walked in. I was a kid and he was one of my paper route customers. He charged me fifty cents.
