Old Schwinn Tires

I googled Schwinn Forums but kept getting dead ends or advertising pop-up that somehow bypassed my firewall. I bought an old cruiser today and the tires are not seated on the rim properly. Im wondering if it has the incorrect tires. I remember some Schwinns took their own tire. The tire size is 26x2x1-3/4 They also have (54-571) on them. They are Kenda tires.
Also if any one has a photo of an original chain guard that would be useful in finding another. If they are wrong what do I want? The fatter the better.
Also the coaster brake is very weak.
It has a Bendix with red stripe in the center.
Havnt looked for a S.N. yet. Im guessing it is under the bottom bracket.

Hey, Al. If those are the original wheels on the bike, look closely on the rim for a stamping that says S-5, S-6 or S-7 near the valve stem hole.

The toasted Coaster Brake? Bendix was one of the best and, most likely, just needs lubed.

OK all I could find was on the rear wheel about 4 spokes from the valve stem it says Schwinn Tubular. The front wheel which matches the rear says nothing. I couldn't find any #,s under the bottom bracket either .It has a couple stretched/loose spokes close to each other on the front rim. They go to opposite sides of the spindle. Ive been told the badge gives a clue to the vintage so I added a photo. I dont know if you can see it in the photo but the badge is held on with tiny screws instead of rivets.

I thought the original color was blue but then I noticed blue paint on the kick stand that obviously got there by the stand being folded up against wet paint. Looks like its been repainted at least twice. Ill try to get out and play with it today. 1st I have to watch Danica win the race.

These are not the common current 26" size tire so I would guess they are the right ones for the bike but just aren't seated right. But that's a guess.

Thanks. I will try to get out there and let the air out of them and see if I can get them to seat. Probably not until Tuesday. Will let you know. I see there is all kinds of parts on ebay. Wouldnt it be cool with a kick back 2 spd.

Im pretty sure I have a 1963 Hornet. Going to a huge auto swap meet tomorrow and hope to find a chain guard and maybe the right forks. I rode it into town a couple days ago ( about 5 miles each way). I hadn't rode a single speed more then a block since the early 60's when I had one my parents bought new for me. just about like it except it was red and a lot smaller with 20" tires. The next bike they bought me was a green Deluxe Stingray with 3 speed stick shift and 2" wide slicks. Actually Im thinking that 1st one might have been a kick back 2 speed meaning the Hornet would be my 1st single speed rider.

I have the Huffy and the Hiawatha shown in the picture but they have never been farther then the mail box.
