New: Take Part in the October Giveaway to Win the Qiolor TIGER Retro Electric Bike

Just wanted to say hi...

i came across this site for info on replacing a cassette, and this site is extremely helpful. thank you so much for all the hard work you've put into this.

personally, i haven't really been on a bike in a few years, sold my expensive bike a few years ago when i went back to college, and this spring i decided to get back into it. i went on craigslist, bought a bike that needed some repairs (more than i was led to believe, but i kind of expected it), and got to work. i got an 05 specialized hardrock pro disc with a brand new dart 2 fork, that i thought just needed shifters. i later found out why. i threw on a new set i got from a friend, and just couldn't get the gears to shift properly in the rear. i thought i had just lost the "touch", and caved and took it to the lbs for a tune. after about an hour of confusion from them, which made me feel a hell of a lot better, it turns out that the jerk who sold it to me had thrown on half 8 speed, and half 9 speed gears. who does that?! gotta love craigslist. on the plus side, everything else seems good.

i've got the cassette tool in the mail, along with the shimano hg50 11-30 cassette off ebay for under 30 bucks total. not bad considering the lbs wanted 135 to fix it.....? some oil here and there, maaaaybe stripping the frame and some new paint, and i'll be ecstatic. i forgot how much i've missed riding.
