New bike owner pointers

I bought a used Huffy cruiser. Rides great, well at least I didn't hear any noises and parts didn't fly off. She has minor rust on some of the surfaces. Some of the bolts are rusty. And I'd like to replace the seat. For the bigger project I'd like to repaint the frame, fenders, and bike chain cover. She does have new pedals. and great white wall tires. I would appreciate pointers that anyone has for this type of bike. The essential use for the bike is to enjoy a leisurely cruise on the weekends and sometimes attend the San Jose Bike party in my community.

There are loads of information both really good and really misleading on the internet. Personally I just repainted a bike here ... http://forums.bikeride.com/thread-1425.html . Was quite the fun and also messy, I used chemical paint stripper. This is a good place to asked for help. I will leave others to answer your question because the bike shown was my very first. Welcome to the forums.
