Aero or non-aero

Hi all,

I'm replacing missing brake lever hoods on a 1978 Raleigh drop-handlebars and don't know whether to order the hood for "aero" levers, or "non-aero" levers. I don't see a lot of difference between the two. Anyone know the difference?

These also have the brake lever extension, so I probably have to cut the slot for those, right?

Aero hoods & levers are for triathlons and racing. Non-Aero is more for general purposes riding. That is about all I can describe the difference lol. My current Columbia restore project I would like to know more info as well.

These are non-aero hoods:-

The brake cable comes vertically out off the top.

Aero hoods don't have the hole on top as the cable exits out off the rear of the brake.
The cable runs under the hood and bar tape along the bars.:-

I would also try and bye hoods to suit the make of your levers as well.

CyclerUK, I think you have it pegged. And the brake levers I have are Dia Compe . . . which are probably the most widely used, it will now be no problem making sure I order the right hoods.

hi steve i use non-aero lever and find it good
