Want to Upgrade Derailleur on 25yr old Peugeot - Suggestions?
#1
Hi Folks,

I want the best I can get for rear gears and derailleur for my vintage bike. Any suggestions before Sunday August 22 would be really appreciated - the bike repair shop is planning on putting on a $35 new derailleur (and new chain and rear gears) and I want to know if I should get a more high quality one and whether or not it's worth going beyond what the repair shop suggests...

Feedback appreciated

The components today are very good and reliable. If you are going with big names like Shimano or Suntour you will be fine. No need to spend big bucks. Just get the ones you like.

I agree with George, also if your Bike shop is pretty good then you should be ok with what they are installing. Atleast if something goes wrong you can always go back to them.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

George, Bill - this is the advice I was looking for - thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my questions. Most gracious...

Cheers,

Steph
