Chain Advice to hold 2000km
#1
Hi,
Need a bit of advice on a SRAM / Shimano chain. I want a reliable chain, nothing special I don't bike a lot and only on roads but I need a new chain. I'm looking at spending under £15. I've found the SRAM 830 SRAM 850 ans SRAM 991 chains for reasonable prices so far. Are these chains any good. I'm hoping to cycle 1000km around europe in 2 weeks this summer will they hold up to that?
TIA

Yes to all your questions.
Any chain should easily last 1000km but keep it clean and lubricated if you can.
Some people say the Sram chains last longer than Shimano.
I don't know if they do but they are good chains.
Ride hard or ride home alone!

I agree with cycler as those are two top name manufacturers. Make sure you get the right model of chain to match your drive train.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

I use the SRAM 991 - great when you need to take it off for whatever reason using the power link system. Should cost about twenty quid from a decent source (try J. E . James), plus should you have a mishap you'll be able to deal with on the road in Europe. Carry a spare power link!
