Hey there..
This week my 29er mountain bike began to throw out rattling noises when rolling over rocks, bumps, small holes, etc. I believe the cassette moves a bit backwards during these bumps. Could this be a case of cassette play? Is it something that I can fix at home or is taking my MTB to the local bike shop the best choice?

Did you check the cassette locking ring to ensure it is tight?
Take care,

Yeah, in the end, I simply used a cassette lockring tool & a wrench.
Tightened it a bit, and all set!
Combo - something like this
