Schwinn Varsity Rack
#1
Hi, I'm new here so please bear with me if I'm posting in the wrong place.

I inherited my dad's old '76 Schwinn Varsity and was looking at installing a rear rack, and I found a product on ebay that I thought might work. Here's the product URL:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Schwinn-RoadBike-Rear-RACK-Varsity-Breeze-Suburban-Cruiser-Bike-Carrier-/111316962878?hash=item19eb020e3e

Anyway, as I look at my bike's frame and then again at the product images, I'm not seeing how they match up (if they do at all.) I'm not really a hardcore bike enthusiast, so please excuse my naivety. Would this rack work on my bike? Here's some pics:

Thanks in advance for the help!

A bit more info - the T shaped piece is used to hold the rack up a set distance above the rear brake, the brake bolt goes through one hole - tight nut loosely until you get the other bolts tight, then tighten the brake up tight.

I suggest that you put a bit of rubber (sliced up inner tube) around the metal pieces where they clamp to the frame, or around the frame - to protect the paint.

Actually I was also looking for an answer of this similar situation and stumbled upon this forum post. So thanks guys for the positive reply and looking forward to add the rear rack on my Schwinn Varsity.

Yeh 10-4 to all above. The long posts go into the holes on the frame at the axle and the plates sandwich the frame above the brake and get tightened. The legs have several holes so you can adjust tilt and clearance from wheel. Good idea to protect frame , old tube section would work fine. The reflector can be moved to back of rack. IMO loose the spring hold down and get some bungee cords hooked around axle.

Happy New Year, y'all........
