Hi hcjg',
What gave it away was the horizontal dropouts.
I have never seen an Ali' frame with those.
But some more bling to add to your stable. !!

P,S. Not me with the Boardman.
Mixing me up with some-one else.
Although I wouldn't mind one.Smile

Hi thanks
i am really happy people like the stuff. being able to put stuff on this site for people to see gives me encouragement because there is no snobbery here like you get on some other sites.
there is no set time to polish a frame. there are 3 secrets to polishing aluminium
1 - use your wife or partner as a king of gauge. i usually show something to my wife and if she agrees that its done, i go over it again. it works everytime
2 - you need a little bit of obsession and
3 - have a vision of what the end result should look like.
i do other stuff too like engine valve covers, turbo intercooler pipes, inlet manifolds and alloy wheels but i dont want to put them here as theyre not bicycle related.

hi Cycler-uk i have an aluminium frame with horizontal drop-outs. you're right, i didnt think nothing of it until you said you've never seen one but looking at it now i have never seen another, very odd. its a Rhino ladies' frame. I've never really heard about Rhino either but its full alloy and very light with a Trek / Giant style seat stays. I am going to polish and build it up later for my mate's wife as a late wedding present - didnt have any money to buy them anything when they got married.

A genuine classic. This is a Muddy Fox Courier. I am restoring it for a mate. He bought it brand new over 25 years ago for £300 when he was 18. It had been sitting in his shed unridden for over 20 years. Keep watch and see what happens to this one.

Well HC I think you've got your work cut out for this one.
There's some nice Diacompe components on there but I see the front Canti's are missing?
New spokes me thinks, as I doubt you can shine those up! Smile
(give you chance to clean up the hubs and rims at the same time.)
If you do polish the frame I would think you'll need to clear cote it.
Good luck.

P.S. What have you done with the rest of your stable?
Have you still got all the bikes or have you sold some on?

Just about finished the chromed steel frame. Minor jobs left to do:
tidy up gear and brake cables, adjust rear derailleur and putting on the h/b grip.
However I just feel like I would end up running it as a single speed since it has horizontal drop-outs. I am getting a bit tired of adjusting rear derailleurs. Cant someone out there just invent one that could be bolted on without any need for adjustment.

So single speed it is then. I'm gonna cut off the rear derailleur hanger and the gear cable guides so there wont be any temptation to go back to gears.

Need some help identifying this bike. Been using it as my latest commuter. I'd never heard of Pirhana before but my Google info shows that Pirhana is a Gary Fisher model. I dont know if this is Gary Fisher. I know the spec is early 90's - LX parallel push v brakes, lx rear mech, levers, Marzocchi Bomber z5 etc but most of that replaced.
Any info on this guys I would appreciate. Thanks.

A really cool looking Marin! Do you only ride it on the road? That front wheel doesn't look as if it can take a lot of bashing.

Hi Sparky thanks for your comment. All my bikes are set up for commuting on tarmac. I dont do any offroad at all. I only use Schwalbe Kojaks either 26x1.35 or 26x2.0 on my bikes. These tyres will turn any MTB into a mean street racer and able to outrun or at least keep up with most road racing bikes with 700 wheels. I pump these tyres up to 85psi though the max is 70 and they ride rock hard but give zero resistance.
