I know this website is geared toward pedal bikes, but perhaps some of you riders can appreciate this tricked-out mini I put together a few years ago... it started life as a Honda Z50, and it already had a 72cc motor, MX bars and custom seat when I bought it. All other mods were mine, including a 140cc Piranha motor, gold chain, trick aluminum swingarm, nice knobby tires for trail riding, aftermarket shocks, stiffer springs & extended fork legs up front, better grips, translucent Clarke Racing "mini desert thumper tank" so I could check my fuel level at a glance, and a ridiculously-over-the-top carbon fiber can for the custom exhaust, lol.
Funny thing: at the trailhead, guys with big ol' KTM & Jap thumpers would congregate round the bike, and I'd let 'em sit in the saddle and check it out... every last one of those guys would say, "Man, I GOT to get me one of these!" Lol, I always thought that was pretty funny. The bike would actually fit in the back seat of 'The Mighty Camry' (4-banger), but I installed a hitch on the car and used a cargo carrier to make life easier... yes, they actually make a hitch for a Camry, lol. Meh, I'm a CHEAP B@STARD, why pay for trailer registration, trailer maintenance, etc? The money I saved went toward steaks and alcoholic beverages, lol.
Anyway, here's my little offroad rocket, wish I'd never sold the bike, I had heaps of fun riding it... some fooliot once said, "Those things only go 40 mph!" My reply: "Not THIS bike, moron!" Lol. With that 140cc Piranha motor, the bike went fast enough to scare ya, and it could get ape$h!t crazy if ya didn't keep it under control! Luckily, I've ridden all my life, so no big deal, but newcomers would pop unintentional wheelies if they didn't lean forward as they twisted the throttle while starting out, lol. Yeah, that bike was heller fun, I miss it sometimes, but I got to ride it for several years, so no worries. Maybe one day I'll build another... "Quien sabe?"
P.S. All photos taken in the White Mountains of Arizona, a PARADISE for offroaders and dirt bikers... so many trails to ride, including my favorite, Rim Road 300, which runs for over 100 miles along the Mogollon Rim. I lived in Show Low, AZ, for several years, and that whole area is awesome... there is excellent mountain biking there too, no shortage of trails to ride. The only other folks you'll ever meet out there are like-minded, just looking to have fun in the wilderness. Forests of tall pines, heaps of wildlife, primo weather, it was truly a great venue for riding any kind of bike. I recommend it to anybody traveling through that area: do yourself a big ol' favor and camp there for a few nights... it is PARADISE!
Might as well toss in some shots of that "pitty" (as the Aussies call 'em, lol), a 125cc Thumpstar bike which actually handled pretty well. I was going through a phase when I assembled the bike in my living room in Show Low, lol. Why did I assemble a pit bike in my living room, you ask? BECAUSE I CAN, LOL. I also wash cycle parts in the dishwasher and use the oven to cure paint, but that's another story... no nagging wife to tell me otherwise, aye? 'The Taming of the Shrew' ain't happening in my home, lol... I don't have the time for it. Good-looking gals who are NOT nags are always welcome, of course!
Anyway, here's the pit bike, with my cat Crackhead acting as supervisor and inspecting my handiwork! Overpaid supervisor, I might add... the shot of naked rubber on the brand-new carpet (literally just installed) is like pure Internet pit bike porn, lol.
Here's the dialed-in bike on the trail...
And a few shots of that primo forest home to round out the post... I kinda miss that home, but I had good times there, and I'll have good times here in Silver City as well. A true Zen Master can be comfortable anywhere, and my homes are known for their comfort, lol. Cheers!
