Replacement chain size
#1
I have a cannondale F400 mountain bike. It is missing the chain. I can't figure out what size replacement chain to buy for it. Can anyone help me on this.
thanks<br />

Depends on how many speeds you have. Count the number of gears on the rear cog. You then need to get a chain that is compatible for that many gears. Look to see if you see anything on the chainrings indicating "IG" or "HG" and get one that matches if you're getting a shimano chain. SRAM chains will work with either.
Note that you will have to shorten the chain prior to install regardless. Match the existing one or follow the chain measurement instructions that can be found online.
