E-whine
#1
From several quarters there is what I call E-whine. It is people that whine about E-bikes and trikes.

First of all, I think they are a good thing. When Im out on the bike trails, I am seeing far more older people, including women, out riding on the E- bikes. This is a good thing. Fresh air and exercise is good for everyone.

Among those that whine are riders that see some young people on over powered E-bike buzz by them way too fast on the trails. They do have a point there. Another group is the head down, ride as fast as you can racer boy wannabees that absolutely hate the fact some old guy on an E-bike, is riding up hill into a big wind faster than they can ride.

No, I think there should be an understanding that the needs of the few outweigh the complaints of the many. Some e-riders may have a medical condition, or maybe they only ride the e-bike once in a while and MTB or road on many days. Just do what you like and let the rest go. Don't stress.

I think anything that makes people fall in love or get into this sport is a good thing, e-bikes included, personally wouldn't even think of getting into one until my 70's probably, I'd really like to win a podium in my age cat for a triathlon related event in my senior years so e-bikes is out of the question until then

@rydabent, @meamoantonio , @SPINMAN ...brilliant

Imo summed up perfectly. Nothing to add except get out there, respect others and just ride!

We have around 55 riders in our biking groups, with about 45 of them riding e-bikes.

We just accept and enjoy our rides together.

Sure there is some banter but all good natured.

If it wasn't for ebikes I would know and be able to socialise with such a fun bunch😁

E-bike or meat bike, the bike doesn't matter, it is down to the person riding the bike.

Yes, it's usually easier to ride too fast on an e-bike, but still, that is down to the rider. Plenty of people on meat bikes ride too fast or otherwise stupidly/unsafely.

We have to be careful not to overthink this.

From my mountain biking group, Safety first, respect for others, keep it fun and just ride! Smile
