Best bike for tall and big rider
#1
Hi guys, I'm 6'10" and weigh 180kg. I'm interested in getting into cycling. I've looked at all the options on the market, but I'm just looking for a standard bicycle to commute to and from work. I don't need anything crazy just a straightforward bike for riding on paved paths with some hills.

I'm planning to spend under £1500. I do 12-hour shifts, and walking home takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Cycling could reduce that to around 20–25 minutes, so I need a bike for commuting.

I’ve seen some custom bikes priced at £5,000–£6,000, but that's way too much for a bike at that point, I might as well buy a car.

Any recommendations? If someone can help me find a suitable bike within my budget, I’d be happy to pay for the hassle!

Surly -Wednesday

Trek-Farley

Welcome, @EfinOnyxis .

I found the above two on ebay.co.uk in under 1300. Feel free to message me if you have any more questions. I LOVE my Fat bike.

I’m 6 feet tall and weigh about 65 kg, but with my bikepacking gear I’m closer to 80 kg.

If you can, please test ride a fat bike — these bikes have huge 26×4” tires and are incredibly stable, comfortable, and fun. I’ve been bikepacking on my fat bike for three years now.

I gave my first fat bike to my friend Bob in Boston — he’s taller and heavier than me, and he loved how stable and comfortable it felt on those massive tires.

I ride a Framed Minnesota, but it’s discontinued in the US. You might find something similar in the UK at Tesco or second-hand. Surly makes good models like the Ice Cream Truck and Wednesday.

welcome to bike ride.com forums @EfinOnyxis ! for that budget you should be able to find a decent sized XL or XXL bike from any of the big name brands like Trek, Specialized, Giant and more, try checking Decathlon's offerings too they usually have bigger sizes available too and the best part is you can ride and test them out instore
