Facing the BB shell?
#1
I'm on my way to get a BB wrench so I can pull the FSA BB out of my aluminum frame. Not sure yet, but it looks like the BB shell was not "faced" prior to the installation of the FSA Mega-Exo BB. Is there a tool that I can use to cut the outer edges of the shell to make them perpendicular to the spindle?

If it does need facing, you may want to pay a small fee to get your local shop to do it for you. The tool from Park is a bit pricey for just one job, but can be ordered here: http://www.amazon.com/Park-Tool-BFS-1-Bottom-Bracket/dp/B000MLD7ES

Wow, I see what you mean, expensive! Just got back from LBS with my BB cup wrench and pulled both cups off. I tried everything available to clean the squeaking MegaExo cup. I decided to try to inject some lube behind the plastic shield--bad choice. The shield cracked and the sealed bearing seems perfectly fine. No more squeaking Sad. I will call FSA on Monday to see if I can get a replacement shield or send my cup in to have the shield replaced.

Just checked... LBS charges $20 for "chase and face". Thats what I will do.
