Has anyone toured any part of the East Coast Greenway?

Is it just for MTB and Gravel, or can you take a road bike?

Hello Spinman, I have done parts of East Coast Greenway on a road bike and then on a fatbike. I have ridden the Greenway between Boston and Hartford. Then MA to RI and also to CapeCod. The Airline Trail in CT is beautiful and is fully unpaved. Parts outside of Boston too are beautiful and are combination of paved, unpaved trails/roads. Some are paved roads and you will be "sharing" road with traffic.

If you need anymore info or pictures, do let me know. Good Luck.

Wish you the very best.

Thanks, GirishH. I'll have to take a closer look at the more hilly areas of the new England or Georgia/Carolinas for road biking. It seems like I'll have to get a gravel bike so I can switch from on/off road.

Sounds good, Spinman. Do let me know if your goal is to train for races or more of bikepacking/touring. If its latter, then you might be ok with a road bike on the unpaved sections. But if your plan is training then yes, may be you are better off with a gravel. Do let me know and I can send you some pictures of my rides. Hopefully they can give you an idea of what the terrain looks like. Happy holidays and new years.

Hello Spinman, I am back in Boston area for a bit and might ride parts of Greenway (to CT and to NH) soon. Do let me know if you would like to know more details or learn about a particular section. Thanks and enjoy.
