Weird brake hose
#1
Hi I bought these SRAM force 1 brakes and they seem to be really unusual. Has anybody ever seen a hose like this? I need to shorten it to run it through the frame but I'm baffled by these hose ends. These were sold as "pre-bled", which I didn't notice until I had them. How can I shorten these hose ends?

Hi @billm!
We have received a couple answers from our community members via Facebook:

Bill: "They look like a factory crimped fitting. You might not be able to."
Joseph: "Banjo fitting"

Those would seem to be factory made ends and a new hose would have to be fabricated to your size. Not an uncommon hydraulic fitting, just may not be common on bikes; I don't know since I have no disc braking systems. There may be some local hose fabricators who could make you one, but it would probably be no less costly (maybe more costly) than buying another hose assy. of the required size if available. Those same style factory connectors would have to be used (whether old ones are able to be used or not) on the new hose; might be proprietary sizing/fit.
