Rear brake tension
#1
This is probably something really basic that I am missing here.

Have got a single speed which I am installing rear brakes on. Purchased some secondhand levers and brake calipers. Am installing the rear ones and trying to tension the cable.
When I tighten the bolt on the caliper for the cable and then pull the lever the brake pulls tight but then looses its tension. I also pulls the housing at the front where I have given a bit of lag to be able to turn the front wheel tight against the frame towards the rear.

Im not sure if there is slack inside the housing somewhere, it seems like the cable moves freely through the housing though when i checked.

Any ideas for some troubleshooting please?
Thanks guys.
