I have ultegra di2 on a trek madone slr and would like to upgrade to a dura ace di2 could anyone tell me if I have to change the rear cassette along with the rear derailuer and what would be the pros and cons apart from obviously the price . Many thanks Tony

Welcome, Tony!
We hope to see you around! Lets start with what exact model/year do you have? So I can see the full specs of rear derailleur, cassette (10/11 speed, teeth). And a photo of your bike would be great to please my eyes, heh Smile

I personally haven't yet experienced the electronic shifting. The full Ultegra setup on my road bike works very fine with me. Dura-Ace price range is definitely very steep, yet it gives the ultimate performance, weight saving and high-end 'status'. Currently most of my 'road bike buddies' also have Ultegra setup, so it's nice to be on the same level and relate. If you can afford Dura-Ace or would like to do some Grand Fondo rides, then why not. Most of the serious amateur cyclists go for the top performance, meaning Dura-Ace.

many thanks for your reply the bike is a trek madone slr 9 di2 all dura ace apart from the rear derailuer which is ultegra, the year is 2019. The bike is 11 speed rear cassette and a 50 34 at the front. Many thanks Tony . Photo of the bike will follow ?‍♂️

Oh, that's some serious ride you have there, sweet - looking forward to the photo! I assume that it's 11-28 cassette, right? Nevertheless, Ultegra and Dura-Ace should mix and match nicely as far as it's on the same 'speed' category. Eg. 11-speed chain with 11-speed rear derailleur and 11-speed cassette.
