Hi all,
I am new to Bikeride.com, and want to let people know about a new ride taking place in Skokie IL to benefit shelter animals at Community Animal Rescue Effort, an all-volunteer run animal rescue.
The 25-mile route has been planned by veteran bike event coordinators from Amlings Cycle, Niles, IL.
Here are the details:
BICYCLE TO BENEFIT COMMUNITY ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT
Sunday, August 18, 2019
Two round-trip ride options:
2-mile family Emily Oaks route on the Skokie Valley Trail, starting at 10:30 am
25-mile Big Dog route on roads and trails, starting at 8:30 am
Start/Finish: C.A.R.E. Adoption Center, 4927 Main St, Skokie, IL
Online registration: carenorthshore.org/pedalforpets
Pedal For Pets is a go-at-your-own-pace bicycle event to benefit the dogs and cats of Community Animal Rescue Effort, Skokie, IL. PFP rolls out on the morning of Sunday, August 18, from the C.A.R.E. Adoption Center, 4927 Main St., Skokie. In a move to appeal to both seasoned riders and families, Pedal For Pets will feature two routes: a 25-mile course launching at 8:30 am; and a two-mile course launching at 10:30 am.
TWO ROUTES: The Pedal For Pets 25-mile Big Dog Route will go from the C.A.R.E. Adoption Center into Niles, passing at times through the Cook County Forest Preserve. Big Dog riders will then head north toward Lake Glenview and a SAG stop before arriving back to the starting point. Smart phone users can download the Pedal For Pets app for directions.
The two-mile Emily Oaks Route will start at 10:30, taking riders along the Skokie Valley Trail to the turnaround point at Emily Oaks Nature Center. At Emily Oaks, riders will have a chance to briefly explore the Nature Center in order to enter a drawing upon return to the Adoption Center.
NOTE: Pedal For Pets is a non-competitive ride for people on bicycles. Due to safety issues, no walkers, joggers, or dogs will be permitted at this event. Please note that the Village of Skokie requires all participants to wear helmets.
