Changing from down tube shifters

Thanks PK. I am mostly concerned about the square base. The Shimano shifters I am looking at do NOT have a square base, like SunTour. The square boss also holds the outer bracket that slips over the lever and has the lever stop in it. Kind of U shaped.
I'd prefer Shimano since I have shimano gear cluster, but not sure if boss is adoptable or only for SunTour square base shifters??? Look at the inside end photos.

the shimano ones in your ebay link look like they are missing the base that goes on first.. round with cresent back and has a square on the inside too. it goes first over the boss, then the shifter, then the bolt. look at this link.

good Shimano shifters normally have the inner cresent piece

Thanks PK I looked at the ones you posted, took a second look and noticed the square in the base. Will look at similar. Seems on SunTour as in my friction shifters the base is part of the lever. For Shimano its separate and missing. Good point.
