Another MIA poster once he realized he did not have a million dollar bike. Just because its old does not make it valuable. Old high grade in good condition does.
I looked at local Craigs list and Varsity's were going for $50 , in good condition. Great piece of bike history and very popular once. Unfortunately sentimental value only. Which is priceless.
Some great vintage bikes out there from the late 70- mid 80's. Those are worth restoring. My Fuji just needed maintenance and a few parts. Learn about old bikes and get a good one. Fuji, Bridgestone, Miyota, Panasonic, they made the Schwinn Super Le Tour, few others. But only top tier bikes. Than there is the Schwinn Paramount, but the pre 80 ones.
I collect watches and see the same thing , people buy 100 year old watches thinking they are valuable. Most are $100-$200 watches. Nice for display. If in good condition. Old big name watches sell for millions.......Breuget, especially Patek Phillipe , Mint USA Rail Road pocket watches can be worth few thousand, and few others.
