To all or any, Please forgive me for probably asking what is probably a very simple question, but I am new to the serious bicycle game, so am not very knoledgeable in this area. I recently bought a second hand Trek Mountain Bike which I am relatively happy with. However, I find that when applied the front brakes chatter or jump rather than applying smoothly as the back ones do. Can any or all tell me what might be the cause and it's remedy for this abnormality. Thanks again in advance for your kind reply. Chris

Hi Chris,
The first thing I would do is check the brake bolts (where they pivot and attach to the frame). If they're loose that could be causing the problem. If they're loose but can't be tightened then the pivots themselves may be worn... let us know if that helps!
