51' Phantom Wheelset
#1
Sup,
I am wanting to replace my old worn out bent wheels with some new. I have a 1951 Phantom and want to replace the wheelset with a 140 or 70 spoke count wheelset. Any suggestions? I am unfamiliar with sizing etc. Coaster with 26.125 size tires.
Thanks,
Monk

Local shops have them in central California. Your spacing should be fine unless the 51 Phantom is unusual. You can also easily find them online. Around here you better lock that sucker up with something extra special or those wheels will disappear.

Still looking for a wheelset. For weight reasons, I am going to change to a gloss black regular spoke count wheel set. Used would be fine.
Thanks,

Any color here.
This guy hand builds them for you. I trust him. Cheap parts, excellent build quality. Silver. Black. You can buy one at a time if you need to save money. Fronts are a little cheaper I think. You pick the hub, rim & spoke colors if you want something different he'll do it for you for a bit more money. Text, e-mail or call him, don't just order from his site, he may come up with something you like.
Don't forget the rim strips, about a buck each.
Otherwise, just watch Craigslist, you'll usually find cruisers for $50 - $80, take the parts you need.
