Upgrade Suntour VX Longcage to Shimano unit?

I have an old Takara road bike with suntour shifter and derailluers and am considering upgrading to full shimano group. I would like to find some good shimano 600 units. Anybody got suggestions?

why would you want to DOWNGRADE to Shimano ?? Suntour RD are the best of the era; Shimano could not compete in function until Suntour's patents expired, and Shimano copied the Suntour design.
