Hub adjustment??
#1
Hello-

I have a new Surly Disk Trucker that I think may need an adjustment. When the front disk brake is engaged, the front wheel can still rock slightly (but noticeably) forward and backwards. I am sure the disk is not slipping and it seems to be movement in the hub. Does this require an adjustment? Any idea what the problem might be? Thanks for any ideas!

Does the wheel move side to side any? If you can then you will need to have the hub checked.
Hi FredS here, as I can not get my old sign-on to work and have not had any luck at getting the password reset; I have started over with this sign-on.

it could be loose but make sure the headset is not at fault too.
you will need cone wrenches to tighten. if it is the axle you should be able to detect it by wiggling also

Thanks! I don't think the wheel moves at all side to side. I will check again to verify. Appreciate the responses.

Sounds like the headset - check that first: The movement can then be seen (or felt) where the fork exits the steerer tube.
