Perhaps you might modify your poll. I believe you are referring to protected bike lanes. We have bike lanes here, it's a little white line on the right hand side of the lane that has a bike outline painted in it once or twice per block. It also tends to be about 2 feet wide & full of debris & potholes, that's also how you know it's a bike lane here.
I've never seen protected or buffered bike lanes before. Very nice. Good post.
You know, if they had them here, people would probably ride the wrong way in them.

No, I was just thinking of bike lanes in general, the nearest one to me is over 15 miles away and it runs along side a two lane road that is in need of some repair. I have not ridden a bike on it and have seen a number of vehicles that drive on the bike lane as much as the road.
